Hello! I'm Emily, a children's writer based in Fife. I write magical stories inspired by nature, folklore and superstition. When I'm not writing or curled up reading with my grey cat Hester, I love being outdoors, tramping up rainy hills and along beaches.

 

When I left school, I studied art, and I always doodle and draw to help think through story ideas. My first children's book, The Girl Who Lost Her Shadow, won the Kelpies Prize for new Scottish children's writing. I've been the Children's Writer in Residence at Wigtown Book Festival, and I've delivered author talks and creative writing workshops in festivals and schools across Scotland (the best part of being a writer!).
